walmart layaway sept 12-dec 15

http://help.walmart.com/app/answers/det ... rt-layaway

Layaway has begun at walmart. Basics: each item must be at least $15 and total must be at least $50. Down payment is $10 or 10% whichever is greater. And of course NO layaway on black friday.

Sounds like a good deal for those that can use it. Of course, it's a way to guarantee money for Walmart, so they aren't being generous and doing it for free as you essentially commit to buying your gifts from there. Seems like a smart move for both them and the consumer.

Why is that? I haven't used either one, really. My parents used it back in the day.

It seems like our local Kmart has nothing so even if it beat it, it wouldn't be worth using since the selection of items on the shelves is so slim.

Kmart allows more items to be put on layaway, such as clothing/bedding and there are no price restrictions. For example, I can not only put the "big gifts" for my kids on layaway, but also stocking stuffers too or the accessories that go with the bigger items. Makes it easier for me if I am going to use layaway to have everything in one "place."

Perhaps I am fortunate that I have two great Kmart's here in my area that always have full shelves.

This seems obvious but in my past experience working retail during the holiday season, I guarantee there will be at least ONE person who takes the BF ad to the customer service desk and requests one of the big ticket "limited quantity" items be put on layaway at the sale price. When I worked there, we had one guy who walked in at around 11 in the afternoon on Friday wanting one of the $99 TVs that were on sale. He wouldn't comprehend that it was a limited time offer, and that we no longer had any in stock.

I agree. Plus (if I remember right), you can put black Friday items on layaway too. I just know sometimes Walmart is the only option for people.

Yep, you remember right. Kmart allows their Thanksgiving and BF sale items to be put on layaway.

Between this and your other post, I'm sold. Sadly, my Kmart is horrible.

Also Kmart has "no money down layaway" special going on...you can start a $300 or more layaway in store with no $0 down or online for a penny down....and layaways $300 or more qualify for the 12 week payment plan versus 8 weeks.

I think I've said this before, but I remember 15 years ago putting bf stuff on layaway on bf at walmart. We told the kids we were ahowing Santa what they wanted, went to the back and put it all on layaway lol. Miss those days! Of course, walmart was the only store we had back then lol.
