Ad timeline from 2013?

Postby allisoncrews » Sun Oct 05, 2014 3:34 pm

I wasn't able to find an ad timeline newer that the one created in 2011.

I would love to see one from last year!

That said, normally by now we have at LEAST 7-8 ads out by now. What's up with this year?! Are the sources of the ads getting in trouble, nor working the respective places, BFAds have a stack of C&D orders, my calendar wrong, what's going on?

I'm with ya there tek. It's eerily quiet with ads this year. Even my sources have been kind of vague this year. The only thing I got from my WM source was that the managers had a meeting in late September to discuss opening times of noon or 2pm on Thanksgiving and that corporate was waiting for the feedback before handing down a decision on a start time. I was also informed if there was too much negative feedback about opening so early that the big wigs were going to push for a 4pm time with staggered timelines for other doorbusters as they've done in previous years. And my Target person only told me that whatever WM's start time is, Target's will be 1 or 2 hours behind that, as usual. :?

I'm waiting patiently to see some ads, but in the mean time it would great to see some official start times as well so we all know what we're dealing with.

Usually by now I have my spreadsheet started, the list started on bfads, and getting my thoughts in order. I've got NOTHING this year. :\ I hate it. I don't care how early or what day stores are open, but I do care if they do or don't give us the ads early!!

Maybe all the stores are in a Mexican standoff -- waiting to see what the other is gonna do before making a move.

In the BFAds.net timeline article comments, one person made what I thought was an interesting and insightful comment about what might be causing this year's ad leak delays.

Courtney wrote:Last year, Walmart put the the toy competitors to shame when they put up almost all of their door busters for sale a weekish before Black Friday! I didn't even have to set foot in Toys-r-us thanks to that move by Walmart.

I think that stunt scared all the competitors into being tight lipped again. They aren't going to let it slip early.

The only toy book we have gotten is the one for Target that came in the newspaper which surprises me. Seems like they are torturing us this year by making us wait.

I hope that Walmart does the sales before BF like they did last year on some hot toys and games. Getting in and out was a breeze, it eliminated the need to go to TRU on BF and freed up time for other stores and sales on BF.

most of the ads that are out by now i don't even shop at... but I just want something to look at!

Very interesting info about Walmart. I guess they do have an itty bitty heart to at least consider pushback they might get lol
