Question regarding Laptops (retails tore related).
Hello all,
I noticed the laptops that are filtering through on the ads, come with Windows 8. I don't really want Windows 8 on my Laptop, I'd prefer Windows 7.
Do you think the store in which I buy the laptop on, would be able to remove Windows 8 and add Windows 7 instead?
Thanks

You can always buy Windows 7 yourself and put it on the machine, and get rid of Windows 8.

True. Doesn't Windows 7 cost about $200?
Re: Question regarding Laptops (retails tore related).
I have a new question
On the Office Max ad for the Toshiba Satellite 17.3" Laptop with AMD A6, 6GB RAM, 640GB HDD with Windows 8 (L875D-S7332), it says the price is $379.99 after a $50 VISA pre-paid card.
Can someone explain what the VISA pre-paid card part is, please? I am thinking because i'm not from UK, I might not be eligable

Na, you can get it for around $100. It'll be even cheaper now that W8 is out.

Thanks a lot.
Has anyone ever ordered a laptop from Office Depot online, on Thanksgiving morning at all? was just wondering how long their shipping time would be on a laptop bought in the Black Friday online sale on Thanksgiving day itself?
Thanks all.

instead of getting $50 off, you'll get that savings as a Visa pre-paid card. which is essentially a gift card.... credit card.... basically a card that has a visa logo on it.. so anywhere that allows you to pay with a Visa credit/debit card, you can use that card.

Windows??....please!!
The first thing I do to a new laptop is wipe Windows and install a free Ubuntu/Xubuntu/Mint, etc. Linux OS.
Then with WINE I can run the Windows programs with no viruses headaches.

Re: Question regarding Laptops (retails tore related).
Lubuntu is a simpler solution for me than Win 7 was and Win 8 is just no IMHO.
I just download Lubuntu, simple install and then I just use it.
Went all this year without being bothered about viruses or updates since if it works then why update it??

I would assume it will be a mail in rebate type thing. Meaning they would mail you the card
