WalMart's Samsung 55" LED - 240hz OR 120hz?

Postby bobbosru » Wed Nov 27, 2013 7:42 pm

Hey all.

Really confused on this one.

Until I get wind of when the Amazon 55 Vizio deal is going to be... The 55 smart Samsung is my target at WM.

The adscan shows 240hz... WM.com suggests 120hz. I think it's a deal if it's the 240.

Can anyone help me out? Also take the amazon tip too. Assuming that's a random Friday surprise.

Samsung doesn't advertise actual refresh rates on their televisions. Instead, they use a made-up metric they call "Clear Motion Rate (CMR)". So, Samsung says that this television has a CMR of 240, and some store ad listings mistakenly list this as 240 Hz. From observation it seems that Walmart web site item pages contain the actual refresh rate, so I suspect that the television is actually 120 Hz.

For more information about CMR and why television manufacturers use these made-up metrics, please see the article linked to in this forum post:

they probably arent going to know at your wm either because i heard the TV specialist at our wm tell someone that the human eye couldnt tell the difference so there was no reason to post anything above 120
