iTunes Cards & You: The 2013 Edition

Postby MegaBlue » Sat Nov 09, 2013 1:35 am

Here we go again! Where can you get the most iTunes for your buck? Check out the list:

Giant Eagle (grocery store, Pennsylvania and Ohio markets only, I believe)
- now through the end of the year, $60 iTunes card packs are on a price-lock promotion for $54 (a general 10% savings, but it's ongoing before, during, and after Black Friday)

Meijer
- Thursday 11/28 ONLY, starting at 6am: $25 in iTunes cards for $19 (24% savings)

RadioShack
- Friday 11/29, starting at 8am: Free $10 RadioShack gift card when you purchase $50 in iTunes cards (net: $50 for $40, or a 20% savings)

Fred's
- Friday 11/29, starting at 5am: 20% off iTunes cards ($25 for $20, $50 for $40, $15 for $12...); limit 1 per customer (20% savings)

Toys "R" Us
- Through 11/23, free $5 Toys "R" Us gift card when you purchase $30 in iTunes cards (net: $30 for $25, or a 17% savings)

Target
- Starting Thursday 11/28 at 8pm, $60 Multipack (4x$15 cards, pink back design ONLY) for $50 (20% savings)

OfficeMax
- Starting Thursday 11/28 at 8pm for the 3-day weekend sale, bonus $10 iTunes card when you buy $50 (net: $60 for $50, 20% savings)

Best Buy
- Starting Thursday 11/28 at 6pm for the 3-day weekend sale, $100 iTunes cards are going for $85 (15% savings)

Sam's Club
- Starting Friday 11/29 at 7am for the 3-day weekend sale, $100 iTunes cards are going for $79.88 (20.12% savings)

BJ's Wholesale Club
- Starting (I believe) 11/29 at 7am for the weekend, $60 iTunes multipacks are going to be $49.99 (~20% savings, on par with most retailers)

Office Depot
- 15% off iTunes cards (on par with Best Buy's offer, but you can buy smaller amounts - $15, $25, $50 - and get 15% off), starting Thursday at 8pm

As far as it stands now, Meijer is the best deal, at a 24% savings. Everyone else seems to be holding steady at 20% off, with the exception of TRU, who is coming in third-to-last place at 17%, with Best Buy - odd as this is - bringing up the rear with a 15% savings strictly off of $100. That's as of 11/14/13. The leader board is subject to change with further ad releases!

---

:: THE LEADERBOARD ::
1. Meijer (24%)
2. (everyone else above that's not in this list) (varying degrees of 20% savings)
3. Toys "R" Us (17%, after a bonus store gift-card issued)
4. Office Depot (15%, good toward any amount)
5. Best Buy (15%, strictly off of $100)
6?. Giant Eagle (10%, strictly off of the $60 packs, but does go on until the end of the year, so YMMV on the value of the deal)

OfficeMax had a great deal last year - $50 for $35, I believe - that I took advantage of, so, yeah, they're a good place to hit up.

Just saw the ad, they're opening at 8 pm, but just doing 15% off the cards. Gonna miss the itunes deal they had, $60 in cards for $45, 25% off.

Wish Costco still sold itunes cards! Don't have a Sam's membership, guess I'll settle for either Target or Best Buy's itunes deals this year.

I occasionally will download a song or two for free, but I like living on the good side of the law. Besides, the only free tracks I have were either (a) released as such by the artists themselves, or (b) are hard-to-find or were never released in North America.

That, and doing torrents opens up your computer for being hacked into and/or having viruses sent along with whatever you're downloading.

Also, $100 for $79.88 is a little bit better than almost everyone, but Meijer's $25 for $19 is still a better savings. :)

As far as "app store cards" vs "iTunes cards," they're all the same thing. I can buy songs with app store cards, and apps with my iTunes card money. It all winds up going onto the same servers. ;)

It's just easier to pay for them.

Prefer to support the artists I'm listening to, especially with the lesser known bands.
