What kind of info can you give us Bostonians on the Blue law times...... is it accurate that NO stores are allowed to open on Thanksgiving?? I have personally checked a couple of the ones listed to be opening on Thursday and they are not opening until after midnight. :?:

The Department of Labor Standards must approve all local permits to permit the performance of work at retail stores and businesses and to permit such businesses to be open on certain holidays, including Thanksgiving, November 28, 2013, and Christmas Day, December 25, 2013. Permits must be approved by the Department of Labor Standards on a uniform basis statewide. See Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 136, §15.

Please be advised that the Department of Labor Standards will not be issuing statewide approval for permits for businesses to open on Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, 2013.

For further information please view our Blue Laws Overview on our website at http://www.mass.gov/lwd/labor-standards ... blue-laws/ or contact the Department of Labor Standards at (617) 626-6952.

In Massachusetts as far as stores with Black Friday sales go, only "pharmacy" type stores are allowed to open. Think CVS, Rite Aid, and Walgreens. But, that doesn't mean those stores will open. Check your local store for their specific hours. There is at least one CVS store (located inside a shopping mall) that I know of that will be closed on Thanksgiving. (There are other types of stores that can open on Thanksgiving (gas stations, restaurants, etc.), but usually they aren't relevant to Black Friday sales.)

Or, just drive up to sales-tax-free New Hampshire.
