Sears Toshiba $300 TV....TOO CHEAP??

Postby HighwayForFriday » Wed Nov 21, 2012 5:12 pm

I don't know but it looks like one of those "too good to be true" type of sales for this TV. Could it be a Black Friday only model? Or is it refurbished. I have a Toshiba TV myself which makes we want to buy this. But, I'm wondering why it's so cheap.
HighwayForFriday??? On Black Friday you gotta make a run to the nearest highway for your favorite deals duh!

The television in question:

I don't know if it's a special model for the Thanksgiving day sale. However, with the "at least 4 per store" disclaimer, selling a legitimate $900 TV for $300 wouldn't lose too much money for Sears company-wide. The loss leader might be worth it for the amount of traffic the deal will generate.

The BF TVs are usually cheap because they are last years model, or are last years' model with a new number, or a reduced-features version of a current model. They're usually still worth it for the price, at least as a screen. If you're wanting additional features, like built-in wi-fi, media playing capability, etc, you'll have to spring for more expensive versions.

I'd say the BF deals are where it's at. Buy a Blu-ray player with wi-fi and media capability for under $100, plug it in, and enjoy.

The Toshiba is the same one BB is selling for $399 and Walmart I think is doing it for about $450 for BF. The tv has very few features, only 2 HDMI inputs. But it this is intended to be used for a home theater all the inputs go into your A/V reciever and you don'nt need all the inputs on the tv.

Yeah it's just a case of moving stock to make room for new models. It's on their website for $700 or $800 I forget which so in that aspect it's not a really cheap tv but at the same time won't have all the bells and whistles either. It's a good standard tv set for someone who wants just that a tv set and not a home entertainment system.

This is the tv that I got my daughter from Best Buy. My mother said she would pay the extra $100 so that nobody had to stand in line and cart that sucker around. We all pitched in and got it for her since she is in her own place now using an old tube tv.

I drove by Sears about an hour ago and the only people there was a guy and his son who had pitched a tent. I was shocked as I was expecting at least 50 people or more. I'll go back around 1 or 2 and if it's still not that bad I'll get in line other wise I'll keep looking for a similar deal later on. Probably won't find one this good but I'm betting there will be some that come close to it.
