Just a idea, We already have had the ace hardware ad removed. How about the ability to sign up for an email list where new addscans are emailed. This way we know about them when they are leeked, and we will still have the adds if the site gets a C&D before we get a chance to look at it.

Actually, there already is one... on the homepage, sign up for the mailing list. They will e-mail right as each new adscan comes up. I thought it was a good idea, too.

Oh Ok yeah I see what you mean, then you can have it if its taken down due to a C&D order. Yeah, that would be a good idea. But, anyway, you could just downlad the adscan to your computer when the email alert is sent. But, this would be easier.

The thing is, We may get the emails but not notice to check for a day or two. If they company sends a C&D right away, we have an email that tells us there WAS and ad but its gone when we check.

An RSS feed would deliver it in a similar manner. People might be more likely to catch it.

I believe their would be some legal issues if we did email everyone with the ad scans but I cannot say for certain. Since we are one of the 'well known' Black Friday websites on the net, cease and desist order will likely be followed.

That will not stop the distribution of the ads online. A simple search for the BF ad can be found online anywhere, smaller bf websites, forums, etc..

I may suggest that you check the website and also your emails often to save the ad scan to your computer when they are released.

I have a question. If there is a C&D order to BFads, does it apply to ALL ads for that company for that year or is a separate order required for each leaked ad. For example, Ace sent a C&D order, if another Ace ad is leaked next month, can it be posted?

It depends on what is said in the C&D, It may just tell them to remove the current ad being displayed or it could say to remove the current ad and dont post an new ones for the company. If the website dosnt do what the company ask's in the C&D then the company may decide to take legal action.

Think of it like this. If you receive a copyright infringment notice from...Disney for Hosting 1 of Hanna Montana's songs, and you go back and post another one of her songs, you are still liable.

Yep good point. Although they do seem to resend the C&D Each year if needed.
You can always plead ignorant that you thought it only applied to last year
