The spreadsheet is a plain text file in CSV format that can be imported into Excel or other spreadsheet programs. The information is pulled from the web site, so any errors on BFAds.net will also show up in the spreadsheet. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions or if there are any problems. The spreadsheet columns are: "Store,Category,Item,Early Bird,Rebate,Price,URL". For research purposes, the 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011 spreadsheets are also still available.

(I'll keep updating this top post as updated versions of the spreadsheet are available.)

You just need to:
1. Download and save a local copy of the file on your computer, and then
2. Open the file in Excel, like you would with any other file.
3. Excel should either automatically display the spreadsheet or bring up the Text Import Wizard to help you.

Please try this and let me know if you have any problems.

Here are two Microsoft support articles that describe the opening process:

I have a computer program that visits every ad listing web page on BFAds.net, for every store. It grabs the information from all the web pages and converts it into a list. Fetching all the web pages takes a while. Today's list had 773 web pages and took 80 minutes to compile.

Is there anyway to get this spreadsheet on my phone? Maybe in Google drive?

My laptop died and I need to search for a new one.

Sorry, I'm not sure how to do this. Perhaps other people might have advice on how to view this spreadsheet on a phone?

But, from just looking at the Google Drive help pages it seems that you should be able to import a CSV file from a URL into a Google Drive spreadsheet via the IMPORTDATA function.

https://support.google.com/docs/answer/3093335?hl=en

Code: Select all

IMPORTDATA("http://www.example.com/filename.csv")

If your'e looking for a specific item, you can just open this in your browser and do a search like you would on a browser page.

Thanks for the spreadsheet! Mom's toys are expensive!

The spreadsheet currently doesn't include Cyber Monday ad deals. Should it? Or, should I perhaps create a second spreadsheet for those deals?

My focus has always been on retail store sales on Black Friday. I almost never shop online, so I've always ignored those Cyber Monday ads. However, it seems that online shopping might become popular soon, and I notice that the two Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales seem to be merging into one general shopping holiday anyway.

Of course, Cyber Monday itself seems to be disappearing as a shopping holiday. Walmart is moving that sale to Sunday starting this year. In the past, people had to wait until Monday to have access to the internet and online sales at work. However, now people tend to have fast internet at home and no longer have to wait until Monday to shop online.
