No black friday deals?

Postby Tomfranklin » Thu Nov 14, 2013 7:03 am

I'm pretty confused by most retailers ads as they only advertise sales for Thursday doorbusters but nothing is shown for Friday. I'm not sure but would guess I'll work Thanksgiving, and wont get off with enough time to shop at the 6 or 8pm deals.

So if I come in at (whenever? no set time for black friday deals.) 7-8am looking for some deals in the paper, I'd assume every great deal will be sold and gone.

So is it even worth it going out on Black Friday if you can't shop on Thanksgiving?

And if there are any stores in particular I should visit? (shopping for clothes, housewares, electronics) any advice would be appreciated.

a lot of stores that open up on thursdya are having additional sales on friday. Target being one of them. you might not be able to get the thursday door buster price but you could probably still find some good deals.

I thought all of the "Thanksgiving night" sales spilled over onto Friday...

Does anyone know where I could find the information about the time the sales ends? I live in a rural area and don't have time to drive to a shopping mall so it's probably either Target, Walmart, or Meijers and maybe a couple secondary stores.

Any help is appreciated

i think shopper's list here: viewtopic.php?f=54&t=25757
has some ending sale times. at least the 'early bird' times.

I have compiled a list of stores that either begin their sales on Friday during "normal Black Friday hours" or which open earlier but have doorbuster items that start to go on sale during "normal Black Friday hours". I defined "normal Black Friday hours" as starting at 4 am or later. I didn't include stores that had only coupon deals. Instead, I was only concerned with doorbuster items. I didn't include information about doorbuster items that start on Saturday, though those do exist. I included JC Penney which doesn't actually have any Friday doorbuster items-- but they have free snow globes!

Stores with "Normal Black Friday Hours" Doorbuster Items

already open, JC Penney (early bird until 1 pm, snow globes available at 4 am, open until 9 pm, no Friday doorbuster items but there are free snow globes)
already open, Kmart (early birds until 3 am and from 6 am to 12 noon, open until 11 pm, open Thursday but there are doorbuster items that go on sale Friday morning)
already open, Macy's (early bird until 1 pm, additional early bird 5 am to 1 pm, open Thursday but there are unspecified deals that go on sale Friday morning)
already open, OfficeMax (early birds until 2 am and from 5 am until 12 noon, open Thursday but there are doorbuster items that go on sale Friday morning)
already open, Shopko (early birds until 12 noon and from 5 am to 12 noon, open until 11 pm, open Thursday but there are doorbuster items that go on sale Friday morning)
already open, Toys R Us (open Thursday but there are doorbuster items that go on sale Friday morning)
already open, Walmart (doorbusters at 8 am, early bird from 8 am to 2 pm, open Thursday but there are doorbuster items that go on sale Friday morning)

0400, AAFES Exchange, (early birds 0700-0900, 0800-1200, 1000-1200, 1200-1600)

5 am, AC Moore (early birds until 12 noon and from 12 noon to 10 pm)
5 am, Bass Pro Shops (early bird until 11 am, open Thursday but there are doorbuster items that go on sale Friday morning)

5 am, Home Depot
5 am, Lowe's

6 am, Christmas Tree Shops (early bird until 12 noon)
6 am, Gander Mountain (open until 10 pm, also see Thursday 8 am listing, open Thursday, but there are doorbuster items that go on sale Friday morning)
6 am, Guitar Center

Thanks for taking the time to put that list together, Shopper. Any chance you have an idea of whether Target will have doorbusters on BF or just Thursday?

If I omitted a store from the list, I probably thought they had no "normal Black Friday hours" doorbusters. However, you should check all the adscans you are interested in to make sure.

per their ad, i don't think there's a time ending for their door busters but they're assuming the popular stuff will be picked over quickly thursday night. they have additional sales friday and saturday (the 20% off coupon for friday and bogo wrapping paper and 50% off trees saturday)

I wish the stores would go back to traditional hours :(

We have family coming in for the first time on Thanksgiving <I haven't seen anyone in my family on Tday since 2005!>. I am hoping they stay Thurs night, that away it's easier to go shopping at the store openings on Thurs. Otherwise, I may be somewhat...screwed on shopping the sales as much as I normally would :(

You think since they are advertising BF, they'd actually have some decent deals on...BF.
