Have you received a BF gift?

Postby blueredzone » Sun Nov 04, 2012 10:00 am

Have you received a gift from someone that was a BF doorbuster? If you asked for a dvd player and that was your big gift on your list and you got the $15 dvd player that you saw on BF. How did that make you feel?

Just wondering if BF doorbusters cheapen the gift at all....

thoughts?

I never have had an issue with gifts given or received. I don't go into anything expecting a gift, so if someone is nice enough to buy me one I am not going to let where they got it or how much they paid for it bother me. I guess I am one of the lame people who say it's the thought that counts, not the money behind the gift. If someone can't afford to buy me a $100 dvd player and can only get the $15 one and they still go out of their way to get it for me, that is all that matters.

If I am going to judge or be judged by how much was spent on a gift, then it should go to someone else who needs/wants it more.

It wouldn't even occur to me to think about it. I can't think of anyone else who would think that way either.

I would have thought. This guy(or gal) knows how to shop.

It would not bother me. My family and I expect that the gift is a doorbuster, or a deal that was better than the BF price.

Ditto! My mom gets mad if I spend more on a gift than the lowest possible price I could spend on her! Pret much everyone in my family is a bargain shopper, so we all understand and expect the door user gifts if we get them at all.

yes....the year that Keifer was a baby and I was pregnant with Tanner so Christmas 03. I was able to get just a few things, my BF budget was 200$. My mom and sister went to Target(think it was the last year they opened at 6am) and got me a video camera. And my dad went to Radio Shack and got SD cards and something else. It was a shock, they knew how badly I wanted it and that I couldn't do it, so they went against what they would normally do and got them for me.

That's pretty cool. Must have been a shock when you opened that gift up.

Even if you don't like the $3 appliance or $5 pajamas they bought you on Black Friday, at least credit can be given for attempting to give a gift & putting thought into it. Pre used items, re-gifted items, etc. drive me nuts. Nothing says "I don't care" like dusting off an item from your closet, slapping it in a bag, and having the audacity to hand it to a person you presumably care about. I don't care how poor you are - you can find new items at Wally World or the Dollar Store just as cheap or cheaper than Goodwill.
