I paid 59 cents a lb for turkey this year which was up from 49 last year. I wonder why none of the stores did the free turkey when points were earned this year. They could have rewarded their customers a little bit for shopping their stores. Conspiracy I tell you conspiracy. I still thing it is greed on their part, in wanting more money in their pockets. Grocery prices keep going up and up and up - it just makes me sick walking in to the grocery stores anymore. :x (Rant done-for now). :)

The Fred Meyer stores here did the free turkey with $150 purchase. Since they also sell durable goods, like toys, tools, furniture, etc, I am usually able to pick up at least two free turkeys each year. Last year I got three! I usually make one for Thanksgiving and give away the rest to the food bank for Christmas (I usually can't get them there in time for Thanksgiving handouts). It helps that we have a huge freezer for storing them as well.
