And this, children, is when g-man became another infamous scalper next to DJ KEZO.

As long as your not wasting money, you should only buy what you have enough money for. Lower end TV's are OK and they are covered under warranty. Also, Dynex isn't a poor brand. Comparing Dynex to Polaroid is like Samsung to Philips.

I would disagree with the Dynex to Polaroid comparison. I have heard more bad things about Dynex than I have Polaroid to be completely honest. Forgive me for not remembering my source, I believe it was a magazine, they wrote a review of some tv's including the Dynex and they said to NEVER, EVER buy the store brand from BB. Take it for what it's worth.

G-man, how much cash do you have for a tv? I think Kmart is doing the Vizio 37", 720p for either 400 or 500? Not sure.

To the original poster on which tv you should buy, out of that group go with the Sharp. What the hell, right? I would stand by original post in that it is not a good idea to go with the cheapest brand or a new brand where there isn't any info out there on it. Tv's are really cheap right now. You can spend an extra 100 bucks and get a definite upgrade as opposed to the basic tv's.

It appears that 6th Ave has lowered the price, but is now charging $119 in shipping! Anyone have a code for free shipping from 6th Ave?

BB also has a 42" Samsung that is available now online for $699. I did't see this in your group of tv's. Anyone think that is a good tv? I'm thinking of buying this online now.

Also Costco has a 2 for 1 deal. You get both a Sharp 52in and a 32in for 1799. If you are in the market for 2 tv's this is a pretty good deal.

Just FYI, the BB Samsung 42'' is 720p, not 1080p, so if you're planning on doing hi-def TV or have a BluRay player, you will not be getting the best possible resolution.

Yes I know but the original poster had a tv in their list that was 720p so I didn't think they minded. Also, I just want a brand name television that I can hang on the wall. I'm not really that much into the greatest possible resolution. If it gives a decent picture quality and won't die in a year, then I'm good.

42" TV

Postby bfallona » Thu Nov 27, 2008 10:50 pm

I am also looking for a 42" deal. I can go out now and stand in line and fight the crowds or buy online. I have see a bunch of deal at another site that are pretty attractive. New has this deal online now with FREE shipping:

Corion Digital Lifestyles 42" 720p LCD HDTV - FA2B42323$499.You can get a 2 yr replacement for $89 and the reviews seem great. Newegg has a good rep for standing behind their products. There is also some website that lets you look at all tv deals, but I forgot where it was. Or you can pay $100 more and pick up a name brand like Samsung or Sharp. I would also stay away from the Polaroid. Most of their stuff has high returns. Check out other stores like Office Max and Office Depot. Another good low end brand is Westinghouse.
