XBOX 360 error

Postby Rossdillon » Wed Nov 26, 2008 5:17 pm

In the description of the XBOX 360 variants, the $299 version is recommended over the $399 version, one of the reasons that the Elite model includes an HDMI cable, that this site claims can be purchased separately if you buy the Pro (299) version. Note that the 360 Pro model is not equipped with an HDMI port, so to make that version HDMI-capable you have to buy an adapter first. That adapter was priced at my local electronics store at well over 60 bucks. BY the time you then buy the cable (which may also have been non-standard and therefore very expensive) your at either the 360 Elite price or higher. Bottom line, if you want or need HDMI connnectivity, you're much better off buying the Elite at $399.

According to Wikipedia, all Xbox 360s now have an HDMI port. No adapter is needed. The HDMI cable sells for about $40-50. The only model that didn't have an HDMI port was the old "Core" model that was discontinued last year.

That is the official one. Cheaper ones abound and will do the same thing and you can get some for less than $10 shipped to your house. :)

Don't be surprised if you're lied to. Word of advice: Do your own research instead of relying on what others tell you.

monoprice rocks. they are local to me, so if i need it in a hurry, its only a 15-20 min drive. I have placed an order, got confirmation, gone to the bathroom, and received notice that my order was ready. all in less than 5 minutes.

You can add the drive yourself, but it isn't a standard PC hard drive. Microsoft is running a thing where you can get a refurbished 20GB and 3 months of Gold Live for $30.
