Red Rings of Death

Postby GinaBeana87 » Fri Nov 14, 2008 12:51 am

So our Xbox 360 got the red circle of death this evening and they are going to charge 130 dollars to fix it thus i feel it is just easier to go out and buy a new one. Wal-mart has one for 199.99 bucks right now and i am assuming this is about as cheap as i am going to get it right? Any help or info on special deals would be appreciated. Thanks!

How long have you had it? They extended the warranties to 3 years.

Hmm i didnt know that, we had this problem about a year ago and i knew that was right before our warranty was up but if they extended it that would be awesome. Looks like i'm off to call customer support. Thanks for your help! :)

man times have a changed. Ive still got an atari 2600 and it works just fine 30 years after it was made and they cant even make these xboxs last for a couple of years. Sad sad sad. reason #283,673,680 why Bill Gates and Microsoft are minions of the Devil.

That's the price they paid to ge their system out first, however, it did work - they are the highest selling Hi-def console out there - only time will tell if it can ever overtake the Wii.

Believe it or not...I've gotten the red rings of death, and not had to send in my 360....

for some reason...i've been told by some HC gamers that if you wrap it up in a damp to dry towel for a while right after its been given the rings (when its stil warm) and just keep it wrapped up....it'll somehow work again.

sure enough....this trick worked for me...i hate YET to figure out the physics or logic behind it...but these H3 and CoD4 players told me and yup.....worked for me =D

guess I have been lucky, I got the 360 on the day it launched and haven't had this problem. When games come out that I like for example Gears 2, Fable 2, Fallout 3...etc. I put many hours into gaming sometimes about 6 hours straight...I kinda wish it would get them though I've been dying for a reason to get the Elite.

Oh i agree, we still have our Nintendo and Super Nintendo and both work fine. Just have to blow out the cartridges every now and then. :)

That's what I'm talking about! I still have to do that!

I know that all of the systems these days want us to get rid of our old units so we can "download" them from their online stores, but I can't get rid of that nostalgia....

Still have my Atari 2600 , NES , and PS1 and they all work although none are hooked up at the moment but it's cool if you ever have kids staying over they have something to play without you having to worry about them breaking your expensive 360 or PS3. lol

Amen to that - they need to be introduced to it in stages. They can play the expensive stuff when they are 25 :)

We just played our Atari, it was fun. I love Pitfall and Frogger. Ours has been around since I was a little girl. We too still have the NES and Super NES and they work just fine. We use them more than the PS3 and Wii.
