Guy on ebay selling last year's ads....

Postby Rendi2 » Tue Nov 11, 2008 8:37 pm

Ok, so while browsing ebay today I found an auction for 99 cents - all of this years ads just like we get for free here on bfads! I thought - I've got to see if this guy is for real - so I forked out my buck.....and he very quickly sent me a nice organized list of LAST YEAR'S ADS! I knew it was too good to be true but I just wanted to see if he really was SELLING a list from last year.

Curiosity killed the cat!

By the way, is that even legal? To sell or to buy?

I would think that it would be legal to sell and buy them, but if hes advertising them as 2008 and hes lieing about it, it needs to be reported

Its probably some 13 year old that dosnt even know he has last years ads and no he cant sell them, they are copy written.

You should report him and ask for your buck back. Not just for your buck but to stop him from giving out false info to other BF shoppers. I just checked right now a see he is still has the listing up to trick more people.

He worded it, to really decieve people. I found it:

I don't think he worded to decieve anyone. I think it is just a straight lie

Well, it was a list, not any actual ads, and I really figured it was a scam but I had to know!

HE worded it in a why they says it will help you know where to line up on 11/28/08.

Yet the listing shows the items publication date as 2008. So selling 2007 ads is not what the auction is for, not to mention that they cant be sold since they are copy written.

I have already filed a report agianced the auction. Maybe if you guys do so as well they will take the auction down before someone else waists there money on it.

Seller states:

This is a great tool to use so you know where you really want to be at 5am or 6am on 11.28.08

I reported it to Ebay.

Yes but he put 2008 for the publication year of the ads.

On Nov-11-08 at 18:22:22 PST, seller added the following information:

It has been brought to my attention that these ads could be from the 2007 shopping season. I thought the source I received the list from was a reliable source. Please use caution before purchasing this list if you feel at all apprehensive about buying it. Thanks.

that from the bottom of that link now.

I once saw a "lot of empty altoid cans" sell for over $18.00 with like $6.00 shipping. I think it was like 25 empty tins or so. They had it worded so that it read that if you were a "crafty" person, you NEED these. They can hold all kinds of things like safety pins, buttons....and so on. I couldn't believe it! People will buy ANYTHING from Ebay
