Excellent - yeah we watched the polls come in. Being in Florida, I knew they'd "be too close to call" until after Obama won - then magically they said he won Florida. After the 2000 contraversey they were never going to project Florida's votes.

Now Tina Fey doesn't have to kill herself because she has to be Palin every week. 8)

If you thought Bush was bad, it will be interesting to see if you like socialism better. What a sad day

Hey it is what it is - everyone deserves a chance.
61% of the voter population voted. Anyone in the 39% that did not vote should be very quiet for the next 4 years.

Here's my solution to get people to vote.
Cancel all pollingplaces, etc. Send **EVERYONE** who is a registered voter, an absentee ballot and let them all mail in their votes. You will reach 100% of the registered voting population (180 Million people) and then there will be ZERO excuse for not voting.

Then you will get the REAL sense of what the people want. Until then, anyone NOT voting has NOTHING to complain about. We the voters should be upset for only getting 61% of the people voting.

If Obama's idea of "spreading the wealth" is a socialist idea then bring it on it can't be worse than the corporate fascism and government oppression and corruption we've been moving towards after Reagan.
But coming from a different angle...hasn't every President hopeful promised "spreading the wealth" in different words maybe as "decreasing the power of big businesses" "Bringing America back to the little people where it originated" "balancing out the imports/exports" "keeping jobs in the US" etc...
And it's essential to remember that socialism is by definition "theories" and only in the wrong hands does it become communism.

I didn't vote for him, but wether we won or lost last night is no longer the issue. It's time to move on and support him as best we can. Maybe he will be the best president we have ever seen, maybe not, either way we will have another choice in 4 years.

I just feel so utterly depressed that I can't even imagine the next 4 years. For those that think socialism is the answer to all of our many problems I can only say that socialism never solved anything. You can't make everyone equal without making everyone equally miserable.
