When do you put up you Christmas tree?

Postby mommyof4kids » Sun Nov 02, 2008 10:43 am

Now that I am taking down halloween decorations I'm thinking about putting up the xmas tree. My kids are up for it. You think it's to early? I guess going to the stores yesterday and seeing all the decor got me in the spirit!! :D

Mine is typically up before Thanksgiving. Do what makes you happy!

Our tree goes up the Saturday after Thanksgiving. We have our family Thanksgiving dinner/get-together on Friday, so I like to wait until all the kids are gone. I have a friend that puts her tree up mid-November though. She says it enhances the ambiance of Thanksgiving. Myself, I wanna get through one holiday at a time!

The Tree goes up the day before T-Day and Gets decorated after T Day dinner! The Lights on the outside of the house get put up prior to that for testing and adjustment with a t-day lighting!

I love the FALL decorations in the store, but when it gets super Xmasy prior to the actual holiday....that takes me out of the spirit. I don't like my tree to go up anytime prior to the dawn of December.

I too like the one holiday at a time. I love the Thanksgiving spirit, embracing fall, autumn leaves, the march into winter. But I don't want to march into Christmas too early, then I get confused.

We normally put ours up when we get home from BF shopping. :)

I love decorating for Christmas. It's so fun.

Several years ago my father in law bought a tree that already had all the decorations on it and thought it was so pretty that he left it up the whole year!! With both Christmas's that's 14 months!!

I wait until a few weekends into December.. usually go with a real tree… If you put it up in November don’t you kind of get sick of it, ie becomes ordinary. We save the tree until a few weeks before Christmas that way its special… I still have young kids so they really enjoy the Christmas season…..

Thanksgiving weekend is when my family traditionally does the christmas decorating. It drives me nuts to see the stores with xmas stuff up already, ruins the spirit.

Later that evening after BF shopping. We play Christmas music or watch some of our Christmas dvds, eat cookies, drink hot chocolate and put the tree and all the other decorations up. It's our tradition. I love it!....can't wait.

My family usually puts them up in beginning of December and we take them down on January 6 (the day the Magi reached Baby Jesus).

I love g-man's idea but we traditionally go to the tree farm after shopping on black Friday and get the tree, put it up either that night or the day next day and spend the rest of the week-end wrapping what we bought, writing Christmas cards, etc! Love it!!! The cats are usually in the tree by bedtime on Friday......
