Economy and Black Friday

Postby The Zach101 » Thu Sep 25, 2008 7:44 am

Ok so im not an expert at the economy and I dont know everything, but what do you think? Is the economy going to change prices of anything? Higher? or Lower?
I hear about this huge bail out, and if im not mistaken wouldnt that cost us some how? lol remember I dont know a thing about our economy so dont think im crazy if im way off. :D

Honestly, I think it's hard to say. There could be higher prices because of fuel, the falling value of the dollar, etc.; however, I think the prices will be lower in a sense. The stores will most likely lower the prices in order to sell more. I may be wrong, but I think we could see a lot more no name items for cheaper than we've seen them in the past. Of course, you have to keep in mind that most of these ads were though out back in March or April before the real meltdown of the economy hit. So, if things don't get better I say that this year will be like last, but next year could suggest a change in the marketing strategies.

Exactly. Everything is already set except for the online sales that they may want to change or you get there and they are lower priced than what was advertised (which likely wouldn't happen).

I think there will be some great online sales in that case!
The retailers are not going to take any chances....they want their sales to top last years....

yeah I think the retailers are expecting 'doom and gloom' for sales forcasts. Maybe of the ads are really already set, then they either have taken deep discounts and gotten great deals for us - or they just locked in on a price and hope for the best on the online side of it.

they could be gambling that we'll stay home and shop online because of high costs for goods and services.

Due to the sour economy, retailers will be looking into getting more people into their stores during the holiday shopping season. I expect sales on electronics to be really good this year.

couldn't have been Vizio...biggest tv they have is 52" and its around 2 grand depending on where you get it. so either way 1100 is a good deal for 57 " considerin the toshiba and samsung flat panels are over 3 grand. but...sorry..it wasnt vizio. lol.

..agreed. I am using a 32" VIZIO for my computer monitor. If I find a great deal on a 52" VIZIO I will jump on it for sure.
Highly reccommend the brand.
