Payless ShoeSource is Closing

Postby Irishmaire » Tue Mar 12, 2019 11:00 am

I was disappointed to hear that Payless is closing. :( They were my go to store for inexpensive ballet shoes and other types of shoes. When they ran their Buy 1 Get 1 50% off sales, it made shoe shopping for the children a bit more affordable.

The news spread last month, and I was really kind of a shock since I usually purchase my shoes at Payless. A lot of their branches in different countries did close last year I guess now almost 2100 branches in the USA is about to shut down. I think that they did file bankruptcy in 2017.

In so sad to see payless close! Our store started sales about a month ago now, and I waited until last week to finally walk in and take a look. The stock was still pretty good, but the prices weren't where I wanted them for sneakers. I don't think I'll go back. Payless was my go-to show store! :(

E-commerce is the preferred choice for all the younger generations. My oldest step daughter jumped the shark after they demoted her from a district manager's position and revoked her company car. She's been with Target for two years and saw the red wave coming at the 2017 national convention in Dallas. Corporate meddling in black marketing techniques like BOGO were the beginning of the end. Like most corporations people who are out of touch where customers generate revenue dictate store policies that fail to improve the bottom line and the ground level employees (who are faceless numbers) are blamed and replaced.
