Video Games

Postby Sparkle2217 » Mon Nov 12, 2018 7:06 pm

Hi Everyone,

So my teen son wants the following 4 video games for his ps4. I don't remember seeing anything in the ads about these being on sale on BF. Was it an oversight on my part?

1. Madden 19
2. Black Ops 4....got it Ebay $38
3. 2K19
4. Red Dead Redemption

When I have more time to break it down for you on my phone right now but I do know that most places will have those games.

Red Dead Redemption II is what you mean and not sure do you mean 2k19 NBA or WWE game.

The spreadsheet will help you break it down to just games and then you can see all the stores. If someone hasn't updated before i get on my pc i will come back and break it down further

Ok I am doing this by memory so this is not complete a breakdown by any means.

Madden 19 and NBA 2K19 are 29 or 29.99 at several places. I know I seen them for that price at Walmart, Target and Meijer. I think they are on the last page of the Walmart and Target Ads. I am not sure about Best Buy (I just do not remember seeing them)but typically they will be the same price as Walmart for the sports games.

Black Ops 4 is 39 or 39.99 at Walmart and Meijer. If you buy it at Walmart it comes with some in game bonus but I don't remember what it was (Its on the last page of Ad). It is 45.00 at Target and Best Buy.

Stores seem to giving extras with Red Dead Redemption II instead of discounting the price. At Walmart it is in a special steelbook case and at Best Buy I think it comes with a cup.

If no one else has a better break down for you by the next time I am at a computer (and not on my phone) and have some time to take a look at the ads again I will get you a better list.

Thanks Jnyx. I clearly did not see that in the ads. Oversight on my part. Go figure.

Good memory jynxy!

Walmart is cheapest for Madden and NBA 2K19, but Target, Best Buy, and Meijer are only a dollar more.

From personal experience, buying video games online from Walmart has not always been pleasant. Between their site over loading at go-live time, and situations where the games are low in stock due to earlier sales (Walmart had Madden on sale for $29 two weeks ago), I usually end up buying our video games at Target. Buying video games in store at Walmart is OK, if you don't need any other big ticket items since they are usually in the grocery section, and the area gets really busy with the video games and cheap movies.

I have had about 50/50 luck buying games and movies online for BF. Just an FYI, Amazon usually runs about the same deals on the same games in the brick and mortar ads. If you're an Amazon Prime member, most of them are early access giving you a better chance.

I have to buy Red Dead 2 for hubby for Christmas so I'm hoping to see the Prime BF week flyer in my inbox soon so I can plan accordingly. My luck, it'll go live next Tuesday when I'm driving to pick my kiddo up from college for the holiday.

I am a big supporter of grabbing video games online, especially with the vast majority of places offering free shipping.

I tend to have really good luck getting the games I want from Best Buy online. I pretty much get all the games that I want from Best Buy online. I am not a Prime member so I don't tend to do much game buying on Amazon so I can't speak to the way they do it. I HATE buying anything online at Walmart. I have trouble actually finding it in stock and when I do there is a good chance the order gets canceled on me. I avoid Walmart online unless I absolutely have to. Target online is OK, but there is a good chance they run out of stock on several titles quickly. I have about a 50/50 success rate there.

Games in store can be hit or miss but if you have questions about how any specific store typically is I can answer them. I buy a lot of games on Black Friday from pretty much everywhere (both in store and online) so I have a fairly good basis for the way the stores by me typically handle it. I buy most of the games I want to play for the year on Black Friday and I play a lot of games lol.

Not sure if you're paying for Xbox live monthly or yearly, but Best Buy has a 3 month subscription for $24.99 which comes with 35,000vc for NBA 2k19.

Here's the link.

@ jynx... thanks. I have never purchased games online on BF and I haven't had much luck in the store mainly because I have been myself and by the time I get the kids pajamas and make my way over to the video games the top sellers are gone. I will try best buy and target this year online for BF but I will keep checking around before BF in case they pop up on sale.

@awest... my son has a ps4 only so xbox live won't work. I didn't see anything on the playstation plus membership in the ads and since my son didn't mention wanting that I am not getting it

Sparkle- Black Ops 4 (PS4) is 39.99 on Amazon today as one of their daily deals (on the deal page it will show it with a headset, but if you click on it you will see just the game)
