How shall thy drill?

Postby blue3715 » Sun Nov 19, 2017 10:44 am

My Black & Decker drill is 18v but it is about 10 years old. Just 1 battery and it doesn't last, and the gears are a bit shot so no real torque. I got a nice torque drill at a house sale so I don't need a hammer drill. I need one that can drill holes with bits. Time to retire the old drill.

I see competing, but similar ads on HomeDepot. Both down from $149 to $99. http://crashsandbox.com/BFAds/2017/Adsc ... ot2017.pdf

1. 1.3A 18v Ryobi TWO TOOL KIT. Drill/driver and impact driver, charger and 2 batteries, and a bag
2. 1.3A 20v Dewalt brushless compact drill/driver, charger, and 2 batteries, and a bag
3. 2A 18v Milwaukee M18 brushless drill/driver, charger and 1 battery, and bag

other?

Question is.. what's better for mainly drilling (standard carpentry/home use). 20v vs 108, or 2A vs 1.3A?

I like that #1 and #2 come with two batteries.

thanks

B.

Just picked up the DeWalt drill at home depot for $99 today. One less BF item to buy later. Can always return if I get convinced otherwise.

I've been eyeballing the $60-ish Craftsman 19v drill personally, figured for another $20 or less I could get a 2nd battery and more bits.

Some people like Ryobi, I personally never did, those tools always seemed on par with cheapo tools like what Harbor Freight sells. Milwaukee IMO measures rather close to Craftsman but offfered at a higher cost. Dewalt is likely more trusted amongst professional contractors so that may say something :)

I am not a contractor, just a regular homeowner who does DIY projects. I would buy the Dewalt.
