according to the infomercials i have seemed to watch a million times - it's suppose to taste exactly like fried food.
it seems they do use a little oil so there must be some sort of frying going on.

I imagine the that a chicken wing cooked in an air fryer would actually fry, since the skin would be likely to crisp up. However, I am not so sure about something like hand-cut french fries. Unless they were coated in oil, I imagine that they would bake instead. And what about something like a doughnut made from raw dough or a tempura-battered vegetable?

i'm curious as to how they cook cheese balls. cause cheese balls in a fryer vs cheese balls in an oven are totally different!
so if they can't cook my cheeseballs like a fryer then i don't want one lol

If you guys are still looking, woot has some today (I'm guessing oil-less fryer is the same thing as air fryer?) http://home.woot.com/offers/big-boss-oi ... _hm_1_d_ph

a little bird (mom) told me that there is a box on Mom's table that she hasn't opened that will probably end up under my tree.....I'll let you know how it works after Christmas!

Did you guys end up using it and how well did it work?

I wanted to bump this post.... I got an air fryer for Christmas last year... and I LOVE IT. You can literally cook anything in it. I joined a facebook group and it's amazing what people cook in it, not just your standard 'fried' items. But they cook steaks.... cakes... pizza... grilled cheese.... 'fried' chicken/chicken wings.... anything you can put in an oven can be put in this thing.

There's a bit of a learning curve if you're doing your own breading but I think it's awesome. I think I have a smaller one (3.1 or something) so i would suggest people buy the larger size (which is like 5.3-ish) so then you can fit small pans in it and stuff.

My friend's mom got frustrated with her's and took it back because it wasn't cooking stuff in the amount of time it said in the recipe book that came with the machine. Don't be that person! Not all the same time and temps work for everyone, you kind of just have to figure out what works for you.

So does it really taste fried? I get that the end result is the food tastes great but if it just tastes baked I'll just bake the items. I don't care for baked fries or mushrooms but I love fried. Thanks!
