Congrats to those that stayed on budget this year. I know I spent more than I wanted to, but still stayed close to were I wanted to. I am staying out of the stores and trying not to cruse the shopping sites.

Since we jot down all purchases on a ledger to balance a copy of the online bank statement it's sobering to see what I did. Now I'm in defense mode and don't want to buy anything except necessities. It will wear off when I return to work Wednesday, see my next pay stub and think about the last items for family member and what to put in each stocking.

I forgot not to be checking my e-mail. I got sucked into an e-mail, checked it out and ended up buying something else. No more, no more, no more. I just have to keep telling myself this

Usually I try to keep track of all purchases too, but I always end up missing some and end up being shocked when I go online and check my balance. Then it is pinching pennies till the next paycheck. This year I had a little extra to play with so it wasn't so bad.....as long as I do stop shopping.

I just checking my bank account. OH MAN. each year I tell myself I need to have a budget and each year I blow it out of the water.
The plus side is that for once a portion of my spending were xmas gifts.

I used to make a lot of those and would always keep the receipt. I could then go home and decide what I really wanted and could always return the items I didn't want. I figured it was better to purchase and then decide what I wanted to do instead of regretting not purchasing it.

I know that probably makes me a criminal now compared to you all.

This is what I came home to this afternoon (which unfortunately is only about half of what we ordered).. and all we planned were clothes, a laptop, and a few kitchen items...

What's that red thing (camp / lounge chair maybe?) and why isn't it in a box?

That red thing is a folding lounge chair (my wife leaves that out there), so the delivery person(s) built a mound around the chair.. the two long boxes behind it are two more folding lounge chairs we decided we wanted.. for who knows what. :)

That looks similar to my house yesterday! lol - Between USPS and UPS and FedEx, we had 12 packages delivered yesterday. 9 of them were from UPS. I put a picture on Facebook yesterday. It was funny because our couriers put the packages in my truck so they don't get wet. They had to Tetris-stack everything in my truck. It was funny.
