No BF for me this year! Anyone else?

Postby azerigold » Wed Oct 22, 2014 11:16 am

I haven't been on here all fall, sure miss coming here! I admit I am trying to avoid BF stuff, as I am not planning to go this year.
For the first time in about 10 years I am taking my kids to spend the holiday with my family. They really aren't into shopping, especially on BF, and especially Tday. I don't get to see them very much, so it's better to just not plan on going, than plan and get disappointed. Though, I may try online shopping for odds and ends.
Also, I don't know the area very well/stores, but I do know it's a busy shopping area, so traffic will be horrible, and I can imagine crowds being insane. I'd rather go where I am used to going/comfortable going ;)

I am still excited to see ads, just have to remind myself I shouldn't get excited over them lol

I'm skipping my family and taking a trip to KC for BF with one of my good friends lol

I'm not entirely sure my family is getting together anyways.... (extended family - my parents and brother live in other states so never do thanksgiving with them)

We'll do our JCP snowglobe trek but that will be it unless we get some giftcards to use. Money is nonexistent this year

We're going to visit my hubby's grandma this year for Thanksgiving. The only thing in her town is Walmart :( . I'm hoping for some Apple stuff on sale like last year and that it's early so I can get out before 11!

Going to be out of state for business next month, but coming home for Thanksgiving. I'm skipping my annual family dinner, my wife's got family coming in so I'll still be stuck cooking and being a "host" but as soon as dinner is done I'm putting foil over everything and going out shopping! My 9 y/o daughter is excited to be in on this year's BF shopping experience. Its gonna be strange having company this year, as I usually go by myself so I can get in and out of the stores as quick as possible. After the sales, we'll probably grab a bite to eat (Denny's or somewhere) and drop her off at home before I hit the interstate to return to my training conference. It's going to be hectic but I think I can balance it out :)

yeah, there's still only a 60% chance I'm going to have to attend the conference though. the company I work for has like no organization whatsoever so I won't know until probably the day before I'd have to be there

I'm going to try to get a snowglobe this year. Since I'll be shopping at target instead of Walmart this time and Target is right next to JCP I might actually manage it this year. We are cash strapped this time as well but I get Target gift cards through the store and shopkick.

I have gotten so into BF I don't think I could skip it if I wanted to. My family has gotten so used to it that my mother in law already knows the plan and my hubby starts asking a month ahead what the game plan is. I didn't realize it had become a regular thing until I witnessed them doing that though. lol

I will be doing something. Don't know what yet because it all depends on when the stores open. I always host Thanksgiving for the family. Most love going shopping though and some will have to work. So, I will look for what I want and get out there to get it. I have to find a way to buy something!
It just isn't Black Friday when it is Thursday.......

I work in a casino and sadly I work swing shift. Holidays are black out days and this year wsop will be here so the week of and after BF are all black out. I unfortunately will be working thanksgiving and black Friday. I wasn't even going to log on this year but I figured maybe just maybe ill get out of work early and be able to hit up walmart (the only store "close" 35 mintues away to me) sad really. I guess my next move I need to rethink where I live for BF lol

I took my 2 oldest kids, my best friend, my uncle, sister in law, and her sister to BF last year and we had a blast!
So BargainHunter, hopefully your daughter will enjoy herself :) I think my son's first time was 3 years ago, and he's 13 now. I think the only thing he didn't like was waiting to check out.

I'm hoping to be able to do a little bit of on line shopping on Amazon, I did some last year on BF morning and got some great deals. I probably won't be doing a lot of shopping for family this year. We'll get my Dad and Step Mom something, some of my nephews/nieces, my uncle, and my husband's parents. We are spending Christmas at home this year, and it will be the first Christmas with my husband's parents <We brought them from Mexico earlier this year>. So I am sure we'll have a good time with them :)
