Sickness :(

Postby azerigold » Thu Dec 05, 2013 10:59 am

Is there a lot of sickness going around your way?
My kids can't seem to get 100%!
Week before Thanksgiving my son <he is borderline asthma>, was very sick. Got into his lungs, which happens once in a while, so he had to go to the doctor get antibiotics, and more meds for his breathing machine. Then he was fine again after a few days.

2 days before Thanksgiving youngest had a cough. Got through Thanksgiving, and on Sunday cough returned with sore throat, and she felt really bad so I kept her home on Monday. She's feeling better but still has a lousy cough.

Sunday my oldest also had a sore throat, and just felt horrible. It was her birthday too, and she didn't feel like doing anything. Felt so bad for her.

So oldest still has sore throat, and youngest still has a cough.

Now my son is sick again with a sore throat and bad headache/stuffy nose, and is home from school today.

Can't catch a break!

oh, and on top of this the kids have a Christmas Parade they are supposed to be in this weekend, it's supposed to be very very cold, so I may have to let the 4-H leaders know if they aren't better they may not be able to participate :(

My sister got sick right before Thanskgiving, and my boyfriend got sick yesterday. Haven't caught anything myself, but last year this time it went all over our office and I felt like I was going to die, I don't even know how I made it in every day, but I was brand new and couldn't call in sick.

I hope everyone starts to feel better soon.
I'm kind of feeling it tonight, but for me it really could be the weather. When it changes and we have the dreary/rainy weather settle in I always feel sleepy, slight headache, and miserable.

The wifey is on her second week of coughing up stuff. Antibiotics are helping, but it's been a slow recovery. Been sleeping in the spare bedroom since it began.

I hope everyone feels better.

Between 2 boys in school (1 in elementary, the other in preK), and a wife who is an RN at the hospital, they tend to bring everything except the kitchen sink home.

I think they have gotten me sick, bleh :( Feeling really stuffy, and a lot of pressure below my eyes. Hoping it's just allergies, or that I'm just really tired.

Of course it could still be the weather :?

I have spent most of the day eating homemade chicken soup, drinking OJ, hot tea, and Tylenol, I feel a lot better tonight than I did last night.

My doc says if I get another round of tonsillitis/ear infection/sinus infection (3 times plus strep, and pneumonia all within one year) that I will need to have my tonsils removed because they harbor viruses and bacteria.

I don't want them out but she swears most people that have their tonsils out that had chronic issues rarely get sick anymore.....I am not convinced.

Maybe it is everyone's tonsils keeping us all sick!

I think its more of an old wives tale, but there is probably some truth to it

My oldest daughter was constantly sick as a toddler. Ear infections, colds, etc. It was horrible.
Her daughter sent her to a specialist, and he recommended getting her tonsils out, and tubes in her ears.
So... at 2 1/2 years old we did it.
They also took out part of her adenoids during the surgery.

She just turned 15, has had maybe 1 ear ache since then, and is hardly ever sick. She actually got a sore throat and headache on Sunday, and still has a little bit of a sore throat, but first time in a LONG time since she's been sick. In fact, she's never needed any kind of antibiotics for being sick since she had the surgery.

My son has been sick this week with a cold or something. It's not too bad but he had been coughing a lot. He is usually able to kick in a couple days. (I wish I were so lucky!) The weather around here has been wacky. Last week we had a couple days with highs in the 30s. This week we have had some rain and highs in the 80s. Several people that I work with have been having sinus infections and problems with seasonal allergies.

I hope he gets better soon. My youngest daughter still has a cough, and sounds a bit hoarse today. She acts fine though, thank goodness.
I on the other hand am definitely getting something :( Sore throat, not too awful, but uncomfortable, sinus pressure, and the left side of my nose is getting a tad bit runny.
Being in/out of the cold all day today is not going to help it, but hopefully it doesn't make it worse. After the parade tonight I plan to hibernate
