Does this forum seem more dead this year?

Postby g-man430 » Sun Nov 21, 2010 5:01 pm

Is it just me or does the forum seem more dead this year? :? If yes, it looks like the recession/sucky sales have really taken its toll on people looking to buy things this Black Friday.

I had been thinking the same thing but thought maybe it was just me. You would think that the recession would make this site even busier wanting to find deals. Maybe everyone had their internet cut off...... Probably right though, people just not spending the money. At least not spending the money on the big ticket items.

i feel the same way. It could be due to the fact that the ads aren't that great this year.

I think it is also the fact the ads came out really close together and all at once.

I don't know how much longer we'll have internet. I'm 2 months behind and I'm not sure how much longer they will let me keep putting it off. I know this might sound crazy, but I'm afraid they'll cut it off and I will win something and won't know about it.

This recession sucks! This is the first year in a long time, I won't be able to go BF shopping, let alone Christmas shopping at all. We have 7 children and thankfully, none of them no longer believe in Santa, so they're alright with waiting until we get our income tax check to do something.....I'm thinking it may be like that for a lot of people this year?? I do know of a couple of other people that are planning on doing the same thing.

Have you tried to get AT&T internet? They have a bare bones one for $10 a month (they don't advertise it) then the next level up is $14. Or you can always steal your neighbors if you have wireless or wait I meant borrow

That's what we have. I think it's the $14 a month one....I know that doesn't seem like a lot to owe, but when you're trying to come up with rent and electric every month....that bill gets put on the back burner and it can't get paid yet...because that $30 is needed elsewhere, ya know?

I think it is quieter for sure and I'm also thinking it's because of the not-so-impressive deals.

Yeah I know what you mean. I shut off my cable service and just have regular tv but it sucks because once they made everything go digital you have to buy a $50 antenna to get a good signal and if you want tv signal on your other tv's you have to shell out more money for a decent antenna

Angel, if you do have wireless, you might want to see if any of your neighbors would be willing to share their internet with you, splitting the costs. Your neighbors might even be willing to "lend" you wireless internet access, like borrowing a cup of sugar.

So, are you and your family mortgage foreclosure agents, repo men, or bounty hunters?

g-man: You scared them all away.

cddd: I'm sorry to hear about your hardship and hope things get better in the coming months!

g-man again: I too think I am going to spend more on things this year than in years past. Not because there's more items, just because I am getting more big ticket items. I am getting the chain saw from Sears, and something expensive from JC Penny for my wife. I'm not saying what because she lurks here  and some other smaller items like saws and hard drives and such.

It was the bouncing that scared them.

We will be spending more because we saved more to spend. My dh and I do have pretty recession proof jobs as well.
