Re: Total cost vs Number of items? How do you decide what you are buying your kids for Christmas?

Congratulations! We stick to a certain amount per person too. I try to buy things on sale so I can get more for my money. We have had to explain a few years in a row that we spend the same amount of money and that the gadgets that are small are also more expensive. They are starting to understand it...

Re: BF at Amazon

I didn't see any recent threads for this (and didn't want to resurrect a dead one) so please don't yell at me I don't do a lot of shopping on Amazon, but there are some books I've found that I'd like to get. Does Amazon do any generic sales (buy x get y free, x% off some department, etc) or is it u...

Re: Halloween 2017

I don't dress up but I do like to sit outside handing out the candy and talking with the neighbors while my husband takes our daughter out. We'll probably watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown the night before.

Re: Christmas shopping

I think my biggest gift to my daughter (and shamelessly myself) will be a trip to Las Vegas for the Monster Jam World Finals in March. Tickets are being sold for $100/person ($200 for a package deal which includes many amenities). Rather than flying out to Vegas, I'm thinking about making it more s...

Re: Toys R US Possible Bankruptcy

I heard this on the radio today. If I heard it right, Toys R Us is planning, at this point, to remain open for Christmas. It will sure be a different experience shopping for toys at WalMart or KMart. I liked the selection at Toys R Us but not the price. Black Friday has been my favorite time to shop...

Re: 100 days and counting

Wow, well I'm going to have to pay a lot more attention to the Thursday deals this year then! I think I'll probably stick to twinkie's idea about online Thurs and in store Fri. It really is a shame that the deals have switched over to Thanksgiving like that though. Who has the energy to shop after ...

Re: Christmas shopping

I had a stash of gifts I have been buying for my 2 year old tucked away in a pretty good spot..or so I thought was a good spot. Imagine my surprise to come home from work and he is sitting in the living room playing with the majority of his Santa gifts!! Since his dad decided just to let him have w...

Re: Christmas shopping

You guys have inspired me to pay attention more to "cues" from my family. I bought one stocking stuffer for each person and scored a pair of "long admired but expensive" pair of boots on clearance. I think someone will be surprised on Christmas morning! :D

Re: Christmas shopping

I have bought quite a bit of toys for my friend that is a minister that helps Santa visit homeless children. Target toy clearance had lots of good finds this year. Why did I not think of this? Brilliant. I usually by the toys on Black Friday and then donate that day. I love to do Toys for Tots or o...

Re: Happy Ber's everyone

Some years we go to a corn maze or a festival. We usually go to the local orchard in October. We buy lots of local produce and their home made apple cider, apple cider donuts and apple butter. Just thinking about it, is making me hungry.

Re: Kohl's

On a side note, I feel guilty already for not being able to stand in line with my elderly father to get a ticket for that Canon Camera. He's a photography buff and when I showed him the ad, his eyes lit up like it was Christmas morning. Our Kohl's is crazier than BB on BF, probably the most crazy p...

Re: HOW do you shop on Black Friday?

Shopping BF seems to change from year to year lately. When the children were little, I'd get up and out by 5:30 am for the 6:00 am opening of Toys R Us and then head to Target. I'd also shop year round for them and store the items until Christmas. Now that they are older, I'm shopping at Old Navy, M...
