Topic: Why do BF shoppers drag their small children (<8) out on

I hate shopping with my youngest child - she has the attention span of a kindergartner, perhaps because she IS one. However, this year my 10 year old has BEGGED to go out with me, and I have relented. I rarely stand in a line outside for more than an hour, and I don't try for the crazy doorbusters l...

My kids are small, and so they got their first bikes around 5. If she has a tricycle and likes it, no need to jump up to a bike. When they are still so little (below 5), most kids are not coordinated enough to ride without training wheels, so they are essentially riding trikes anyway. But really tho...

Returning posters-anyone else change their avatar this year?

I think last year I had a snow scene (which someone stole), so I changed around my avatar this year. I recognize a few folks from last season just from their avatar, which got me thinking -- did anyone else change it up this year, too?

Good advice to take a friend if you can, bring water and snacks, wear VERY comfortable clothes and shoes, and to avoid the craziest of stores until after opening (get a friend to go in your place if you need something). Also - compression stockings are your friend, if you are prone to the least bit ...

I live too far away from my extended family, and have small kids, so for the last 5 years or so it has been just me out fighting the crowds. This year, though, I may bring my 10 year old daughter along, if she is interested. My inlaws will be in town, but they hate retail shopping, so they probably ...

Last year the only thing I waited in line for was a ZhuZhu pet at TRU, at the "reasonable" hour of midnight. I hit the line around 10pm, and was there in time to pick up one pet and some accessories, which was all I needed. I did a little nosing around the store until 1am, got coffee, then...

"with a 2 y/o will have to figure something out this year cause the older kids will have a cow if we dont put up the tree." When my kids were little we bought all plastic and unbreakable ornaments for the tree. We hung our treasured breakables elsewhere as decoration -- some from the chand...

Five years ago I got suckered into paying for optimization AND a three year service contract for my "cheap" laptop. The only good thing that came out of it was the contract - the power outlet had to be replaced three times, the display screen and motherboard once each. However, never again...

"Whats next, shopping on Thanksgiving morning? "

Old Navy was open on Thanksgiving Day last year, IIRC. I know because we went out for the T dinner, and stumbled into an open store afterward. It felt weird, but we did get some good buys.

Make sure they have intact codes on them when you buy them at a store that has them out on the floor for display (like JCPenney's). I have seen more than one whee the tag was ripped off the stuffed animal, making the online gameplay inaccessible.

Our family has a long tradition of buying toys for giving away at Christmas, in place of adult-to-adult presents. We usually buy two bikes and donate in the name of our parents, plus a handful of other toys for my sister and brothers, aunts and uncles etc. Kids still get given toys in our family, an...

I've also had luck with NowInStock.net - got several Zhu Zhus that way, and got my Wii last year with the service.
