Best Buy, Warwick, RI: The Gold Standard in Black Friday

Just woke up from a crazy, crazy Black Friday. Got in line 4:30 a.m. Thursday morning, was in and out of my local Best Buy in 20 minutes. I don't know who was running the show there but, seriously, they need to be tapped nationally for every store that ever has line issues. Around 2:30 a.m., the loc...

Great day, great day indeed...

So, I just got home from the madness that was Black Friday 2009 (In Warwick, RI). Got to Best Buy at 12:30 p.m. and was 12th in line. Recognized the people ahead of me from years past and we spent the next 16 and a half hours shooting the shit. I mean, seriously, time flew by. 4:30 a.m. comes, I fin...

If you're in the Rhode Island area, don't worry about lining up at Best Buy until 8p.m.

Honest.

OK, I admit that what I do is a bit extreme but I promise I return it! .... Anyhoo, the night before Thanksgiving, I go to a local grocery store and use one of the small hand baskets they have and put it in a carriage. I do my shopping, leave the store and take the hand basket with me home. I then t...

Purchased $670 worth of DVDs for $240.

So, all told, I saved $430.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Thank you Best Buy!

Just wanted to say that I had a super Black Friday. Waited from 6 p.m. Thursday to the store opening and got everything I wanted and more thanks to Best Buy's non-announcement of The Shield and Rescue Me DVDs on Sale. All told, I got about $500 worth of DVDs from Best Buy for $170. Also, I don't kno...

You know what pisses me off?

Ok, I think we're all pretty much in agreement that this year's sales suck. That's not what makes me mad. What makes me mad is that companies like Best Buy and Target are going to say "Oh, our sales are down because the economy is slow" instead of realizing that the real reason most people...

Judging by my experience, I'd say if you get to Target four or five hours early, you're gold.

Here's the thing..... I hate the fact that people sell the vouchers. I hate the fact that people resell the items. But...... If I hated it enough, I'd beat them to it by getting there earlier. If I can't get there before them, I have no right to say what they can do with their purchases. It would be...

Yeah, these people suck

Last year, no word of a lie I had 12 people ask me what I was in line for. By person No. 4 I had a pretty good story. I told them I was in line for the Hannah Montana Video Game ($9.99), a two-pack of Energizer AAA batteries ($1.99), 50 First Dates on DVD ($4.99) and the latest James Blunt CD ($9.99...

Last year was great. The weather was nice and sunny and lots of people showed up (ok, that part sucked). As the night went on, however, it got colder and colder and that directly coorelated with the amount of talking being done. From 1a.m. - 3 a.m., there wasn't a single word said and it was cold as...

Last year's Best Buy Flyer came out on November 7th. Turkey Day was the 29th, so that's three weeks in advance.

This means this year's ads aren't slow. They should start rolling in this week, I'd say by Saturday we'll have the big ones.
