Re: Cyber Monday

I bought a Dell laptop last year during as Cyber Monday sale, and was pleased. It was not a doorbuster, screamingly insane price, but it was a very decent discount on a laptop that met my needs, and I've been very happy. I've not found prices on Cyber Monday to be as crazy-low as on Black Friday, bu...

Re: POLL: Rate your BF 2011 experience

Got most of what i wanted, not all, but I was also not super-competitive this year. I kind of liked being more laid back, actually.....

Re: 2011 "Leaving" Thread

Left at a leisurely 3:15am this morning for 4:00am Penney's opening, and return a little before noon. Skipped Target this year.

Looks like my requisition for a sunny day finally came through after all. Hope it holds through the weekend!

Re: 2011 "Returning" Thread lol

Took a new tack this year, did a lot of online shopping, and skipped Target altogether. "Slept in" until 3am, got to JC Penney with the kid (in our matching bfads T-shirts!) by 3:45, just as they opened the doors for the 4am rush. In and out in 20 minutes, then managed to hit up all the re...

Re: Hiding your 'loot' from the kids?

Just got back from BF shopping, and everything is under a blanket on the bed. I will be sleeping on the other side ;-)

Later tonight, after my nap, it will get stashed and/or wrapped.

Re: Amazon: Your BF offerings suck

Everyone's offerings were a little weaker this year, but so many people started so early, I've been able to piece together some good deals. My budget is also MUCH smaller this year, despite squeezing in a laptop, and I'm buying more things like clothes and DVDs, and fewer toys and splurges. Kind of ...

Re: Holy Moly.

The Fred Meyer stores here did the free turkey with $150 purchase. Since they also sell durable goods, like toys, tools, furniture, etc, I am usually able to pick up at least two free turkeys each year. Last year I got three! I usually make one for Thanksgiving and give away the rest to the food ban...

Re: Anyone making gifts this year?

OMG I love those zipper bracelets, bfaddict! I have seriously thought about starting up a small business selling crafts, just enough to bring in a little cash, but I have been too hesitant to try. May I ask - how long have you been doing this, and how long did it take you to get established?

Re: Oh I hope I can do this!!

You know, this might be heresy, but a one time, slight rise in blood sugar may not be all that terrible for you and the baby. Also, if you eat a solid amount of protein with the sweet item, such as nuts, dried jerky, or cheese, it does slow the sugar absorption. I had GD with both, well managed by d...

Anyone making gifts this year?

In addition to my annual BF bargain hunt, I'll be making some handmade gifts this year. I recently picked up knitting again, and I've had several requests for scarves and hats, plus some cute little knitted Japanese dolls called mochimochi (they are fast to make!). My kids love making gifts as well,...

Re: Amazon Lightning Deal - Xbox 4gb Kinect + $100 Credit

It was literally gone in one second. Price point was $299. I had it briefly in my cart at 11:00:01, but it slipped out again even though I immediately clicked through to purchase. So I immediately signed up for the waitlist (total time, perhaps 10-15 seconds later), and I am now about 500th in line. :(

Re: Black Friday Babies

Ok, that photo is really scary. I admit that I brought my ten year old out last year, and will be bringing her out again. But then, we don't wait in outside lines for longer than about 20-30 minutes, and she is old enough, tall enough, and independent enough to help me do things like stand in line w...

Re: Does anyone dress up for Black Friday??

My daughter and I are wearing the matching BFAds T-shirts this year (and it will probably be the last time she'll agree to matching outfits for a while, lol). Other than that, I dress for comfort and speed.
