Walmart Ending Price Matching in 500+ Stores

Walmart Ending Price Matching in 500+ Stores

Walmart is eliminating their price-matching policy at over 500 stores! It seems that in an effort to push consumers to use their app Savings Catcher they will no longer offer price matching. On July 9th, this change will take effect in over 500 stores; they have not yet been announced. Not familiar with the Savings Catcher app? It automatically price matches items that you have already purchased to local ads in your area. Sounds nice but it comes with a few major drawbacks. You have to upload your receipt to the app and it only works on groceries (pantry staples), health & beauty and consumable items (paper towels, garbage bags, etc.). So, pretty much anything you want to price match isn't included. The app is available for both Android and iOS.

The price difference that the app finds on any of your items is then put into your account where it can be loaded onto a Walmart gift card or onto an American Express Bluebird card. Walmart hasn't announced which stores will be ending the program but we're hoping it's not ours!

This news comes out just a day after Amazon announced a change in their price-matching policy. Price matching may soon be a thing of the past as we see more stores ending their programs.
