1. Best Buy – Sharp 42” 1080p LCD HDTV ($199.99)
Discounted televisions are a staple of Black Friday, even surpassing laptops in terms in terms of buzz in deal talk communities. These happen every year, but it’s almost always a house brand or lesser known manufacturer that seems to get the lowest price. The fact that this is a Sharp television is what really propels this deal into the stratosphere.
Price and brand would probably be enough to make this the monumental deal that it is, but on top of those facts, it’s also a well-equipped HDTV. It’s a 1080p set with a physical depth of less than 4”. It’s got four HDMI inputs, the highest number of HDMI inputs offered on any of the HDTV deals this Black Friday. On top of that, it features one set of component inputs, composite inputs, VGA connection for PCs and even s-video just for good measure.
No, this isn’t one of the AQUOS series of Sharp premium televisions, nor is it a Quattron model with yellow pixels that make George Takei scream “Oh my!” It’s also true that Sharp’s specifications don’t list the refresh rate, so we’re assuming this will be 60hz since every manufacturer shouts from the rooftops when their sets are 120hz. But even these drawbacks aren’t enough to sink this deal. For under $200 it’s just difficult to complain about anything this TV does wrong when it does so much right.
