BFAds Top 10 Picks

Top Ten Black Friday 2013 TVs

In addition to our in-depth buying guides, BFAds is now also providing easily digestible Top 10 lists for many popular products including HDTVs, tablets, video games, Apple products and more!

We start with Black Friday's crowned jewel: HDTVs. While laptops and digital cameras are now Black Friday afterthoughts (largely replaced by tablets and cellphones), HDTVs have remained as one of the most sought-after items on Black Friday.

The only thing that seems to change year-over-year is that the discounts start to apply to larger models, a trend that we've seen continued this year as our three top picks are all for TV's with screens 50 inches or larger!

1. Element 50" 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV (ELEFT502)

$230 at Target
Easily the best Black Friday HDTV deal this year and definitely in the running for overall best deal of Black Friday 2013.

The next closest deal is the Emerson 50" for $290 at Walmart. After that, other options in the 50" size are $400+.

2. LG 55" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (55LN5100)

$500 at Best Buy
Priced the same as other name-brand 50" models, this LG model is only beaten in price by the above Seiki set.

And if you're not a fan of LG, Sam's Club has the Vizio 55" Smart HDTV for $50 more.

3. Sharp 42" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (LC-42LB150U)

$300 at Best Buy
Surprisingly, if you're strictly looking for a 42" HDTV this year, this name-brand Sharp model is your least expensive option.

This set features a direct-lit LED backlight which will result in a thicker profile compared to edge-lit models (although will be largely the same depth as LCD models).

And although it only has a few reviews on BestBuy.com, all reviews are generally positive with an overall 4.7/5 rating.

4. Vizio 70" 1080p 120Hz Razor Smart LED (E701i-A3)

$998 at Walmart
The best price we've ever seen on a 70" HDTV, which, for reference, has a 35% larger screen than a 60" model.

And, as part of Event 2 of Walmart's Black Friday sale, this TV goes on sale at 8pm Thanksgiving night, but you'll have to get there much earlier for a chance to purchase.

All other 70" sets on Black Friday start at $1500.

Note that the Vizio 70" will also be available during the Sam's Club VIP event on November 24, which is, unfortunately, by invitation only.

5. Westinghouse 39" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (UW39T7HW)

$180 at Office Depot
Although there are a handful of 39" HDTVs at the $180 price-range, the Westinghouse is the only one to feature a 120Hz refresh rate.

This particular model was selling for $290 back in June, so a $110 price-drop is pretty significant.

Similar options include the Insignia 39" for $170 at Best Buy and the Element 40" for $180 at Walmart.

6. Funai 32" 720p 60Hz LED HDTV (LF320FX4F)

$98 at Walmart
One of two options at this $100 price point, we ultimately opted for the Funai over the similarly spec'd Polaroid 32" for $100 at Shopko because the Funai qualifies for Walmart's 1-Hour in-Stock Guarantee promotion.

The next closest options start at $150, with the name-brand options running $200+.

And for those unfamiliar with the name, Funai is the parent company behind bargain brands such as Emerson, Magnavox, Sylvania and Symphonic.

7. Vizio 60" 1080p 120Hz Smart LED HDTV

$688 at Walmart
A price so nice Walmart decided to use it twice!

One of the best deals from last year makes its return again for Black Friday 2013, albeit at the same price it was in 2012.

While maybe not as hot as it was in 2012, it's still a great deal as the lowest price this model has been between the two Black Friday was $870 back in February.

Refurbished versions of the A601i-A3 have recently sold for $650.

8. Sharp 50" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (LC-50LB150U)

$400 at Best Buy
The big brother to the previously listed 42" model, this name-brand HDTV is the next cheapest option after the Element and Emerson models.

The next name-brand 50" HDTVs are all priced at $500 and above.

9. Westinghouse 60" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV (VR-6090Z)

$588 at Kmart Thanksgiving
The cheapest 60" HDTV this Black Friday isn't even a part of a true Black Friday sale.

Rather, this Westinghouse is going to be available as part of Kmart's Thanksgiving Day sale, which starts at 6am Thursday!

This is the best price on a 60" HDTV by $100 this Black Friday.

10. Seiki 55" 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (SE551GS)

$399.99 at hhgregg
If you've got $400 burning a hole in your pocket, you can choose between the aforementioned smaller, name-brand Sharp or this larger, off-brand Seiki.

But note that the 5" differential is on the diagonal, which means that a 55" screen is more than 20% larger than a 50" screen. The next closest price on a 55" HDTV this Black Friday is the LG 55" for $500 at Best Buy.

While you're still paying a premium for the larger televisions, the once dramatic price jumps between different TV size tiers have been greatly reduced. And even though the biggest discounts are on the bargain brands, there are still plenty of name-brand options available at prices rarely seen throughout the year.
