In the ever changing landscape of consumer electronics; laptops continue to be an area of unbelievably fast progression and innovation. Luckily, every year around Black Friday, we see retailers vying to offer the lowest prices possible. This is especially true when it comes to entry level laptops, and this year is no different with so many suitable options below $200. If you are looking for a laptop with more performance, the choices are fewer but the deals sure are sweet!

1. Asus 11.6" Laptop w/ Intel Processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB HDD, Windows 8.1 (X205TA-BING-FD0)

$99.99 at Staples
The Asus 11.6" laptop takes top honors not because its the most robust option, but because its a functional laptop with enough power to get around the internet and stream movies and shows for under $100.00. Low cost tablets are in the same price range but don't offer the flexibility of a keyboard and a full featured operating system.

2. Dell Inspiron 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop w/ Intel Core i3, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD (I3542-6003BK)

$299.99 at Best Buy
The Dell I3542-6003BK would be in first place if it was any cheaper because its got just enough power combined with a touchscreen at just below $300. A perfect laptop for a student or your average computer user, but don't think its a slouch! With an Intel Core i3 under the hood, its amply equipped and will be able to keep up for years to come.

3. HP Pavilion 15.6" Laptop w/ Intel Core i5 Processor, 4GB RAM, 750GB HDD

$299.99 at Office Depot
The HP Pavilion with Intel Core i5 processor essentially trades a touchscreen for an updated CPU at the same price as the Dell I3542-6003BK mentioned at number 2. It also boasts a larger harder drive at 750GB vs. the 500GB of the Dell and has one more USB 3.0 port. If you can do without the touchscreen, the HP Pavilion is a much better than average laptop at a run-of-the-mill price.

4. Toshiba Laptop w/ Intel Core i7, 12GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Turbo Boost 2.0 (C55-B5356)

$579.99 at Staples
The Toshiba C55-B5356 i7 variant is long in the tooth sporting an Intel Core i7 processor, 12GB memory and 1TB hard drive. The cons include the ample, but not stellar, integrated graphics via Intel HD 4400 and the 720p screen. Both fine for more computing, but won't hold a candle to an integrated graphics card or retina screen from Apple.

5. Toshiba 15.6" Laptop w/ Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 1 TB HDD, Turbo Boost 2.0 (C55-B5356)

$399.99 at Staples

6. HP 15.6" Laptop w/ Intel Celeron N2830, 4GB RAM, Win 8.1 (15-f004wm)

$159.00 at Walmart
The HP 15.6” Laptop is a more than capable laptop at well under $200. Typically in this price range, you see Google Chromebooks or machines with only 2GB of memory and antiquated processors. But the 15-f004wm has just enough to get the job done without breaking the bank.

7. Toshiba Satellite C55 Laptop Computer w/ Intel Inside

$159.99 at Office Depot
The Toshiba C55 is another laptop competing in the casual user arena, with nearly the same specs as the HP 15-f004wm mentioned at spot 6 just with less memory which is a big deal in this case. Anything below 4GB can cause computers to be very sluggish, and the Toshiba Satellite cannot have its memory upgraded.

8. Dell Inspiron 15.6" Intel Celeron Processor 4GB RAM 500GB HDD Windows 8.1 OS Laptop

$169.99 at Dell
The Dell Inspiron is just $10 more than the HP found at spot 6 and matches it in nearly every category. Its another great option for a baseline computer enough oomph for schoolwork, business, surfing the internet and other everyday tasks and only sits a seat behind the HP because of the $10 difference.

9. HP Pavilion 10.1" x2 Laptop w/ Intel Inside Processor, 2GB RAM

$229.99 at Office Depot

10. Dell Inspiron 15 Laptop Computer w/ Intel Inside Processor

$179.99 at Office Depot
The Dell Inspiron 15 holds down the bottom of the list with a slightly higher price than other retailers for an increasingly common platform. Dual-core laptops based on Intel processors typically cost $249.99+ and many have hard-wired memory that cannot be added to. The Dell Inspiron 15 however has upgradable memory topping out at 8GB and a slightly faster processor than other systems around the $200 mark.
