Staples recently announced in a press release that, like last year, they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day so that their retail associates can enjoy the day with their families and prepare for the holiday madness in its entirety. They will be once again opening on Black Friday at 7 AM.
The press release also states that for those customers that can't wait to obtain their "amazing" deals, you can start online shopping on Thursday, November 28th. They don't mention a start time in their press release, but we can expect it to be around midnight ET.
Staples always offers the buy online and pick up in-store option, however there will be exclusive in-store offers available on Black Friday. Staples will be offering 15% off UPS shipping services from November 3rd through December 28th, which includes shipping supplies and packaging as well as actually shipping the package from your Staples location. They will also be offering free next day delivery on $45+ orders, $180-$330 off select HP laptops, and 40% off select custom holiday cards.
Staples vaguely hinted at staying tuned for Black Friday deals in November. According to our 2018 Ad Leak Timeline, Staples released their Black Friday ad on November 6th last year so we can expect similar timing! Until then, you can check out our Staples 2018 Ad Scan. Staples first closed their doors for Thanksgiving evening in 2015. It seems to be working for them considering they have continued to do it since!

Stores are now opening earlier and earlier each year while still trying to find the balance to give their hard working employees the day off with their family. To compensate with this balance, a good majority of stores are offering their Black Friday deals online starting at midnight on Thanksgiving so everyone can have their turkey and eat it too! While most larger retailers will be expected to open around 5-7PM on Thanksgiving, a lot of retailers are choosing to follow this model to keep their customers and employees happy and thankful!
