The Microsoft Xbox 360 celebrated a 10 year anniversary last November, but it seems that it's time has come to an end. Today, Microsoft announced plans to halt the manufacturing of new Xbox 360 consoles. Of course, existing inventory will still be sold. However, no new consoles will be made as Microsoft continues to better the Xbox One and look toward the future of gaming.
If you are currently the owner of an Xbox 360, there is no need to fret. Microsoft stated that the Xbox 360 will still be supported in a variety of ways -- you can still play Xbox Live, use Xbox 360-dedicated servers, purchase games (while supplies last) and get hardware support. Xbox One owners won't lose their backwards compatibility either.
While it is a bummer to see the Xbox 360 go the way of so many consoles before it, there is a silver lining. We expect to see awesome deals on Xbox 360 games and bundles as merchants try to liquidate their inventory. Keep an eye on stores like Gamestop, Walmart, Toys R Us, and eBay. As always, you can find the best of the best deals 24/7 on our Hot Deals page.
