Kohls, JCPenney Announce Black Friday Start Times

Black Friday 2011 Store Hours

It looks like shoppers will have to get in line even earlier this Black Friday as Kohl's has confirmed they will be starting their Black Friday sale at midnight this year.

Kohl's had started previous years sales at 3am (one of the earliest at the time), but after seeing Target and Macy's announce midnight start times, Kohl's apparently wants a piece of the midnight action.

Sticking to their roots, however, is JCPenney, who announced they will be starting their Black Friday sale at 4am; the same time as last years. The later start time may work out brilliantly for JCPenney, who is electing to avoid competing with two competitors (Kohl's & Macy's) at midnight, in an effort to catch both later shoppers and any residual shoppers leaving the earlier sales.

For those keeping track, Kohl's makes for a total of three midnight starts with one Thanksgiving night start (Toys R Us at 10pm Thursday). We've also heard a popular rumor that Walmart is planning on starting Thanksgiving at 10pm, but there has been no official announcement. We'll be sure to keep you updated!
