Kohl's Black Friday Marathon Hours: The Plot Thickens

Kohl's Black Friday Store Hours!

Macy's threw down the gauntlet last week and it looks like Kohl's is picking it up -- and then some.

Back in September we reported that Kohl's was testing signs in a Milwaukee store showing a 6 p.m. Thanksgiving start time for their Black Friday 2016 sale.

Now, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal, Kohl's has filed a request with the city of Glendale to not only open at 6PM on Thanksgiving, but to remain open for 30 hours until midnight on Black Friday (technically Friday night).

As we pointed out, even though major shopping malls like the Mall of America will be closed on Thanksgiving, that doesn't necessarily mean anything for individual stores housed within those malls. As the Business Journal points out, the Bayshore Mall will be closed on Thanksgiving, but since Kohl's has their own entrance they can stay open if they'd like.

If these rumors are true, which we believe they are, Macy's might be opening earlier than Kohl's but Kohl's will stay open longer. Since one of their major competitors is open earlier, that leaves it to Kohl's to stay ahead of the game when it comes to deals. We're curious to see how other department stores will follow suit and what they have planned as far as doorbusters go. Will other anchor stores embrace Grey Thursday? Will Kohl's actually open at 5PM instead of 6 to stay competitive? Will JCPenney get mixed up in this? Stay tuned to find out!
