Blue Laws Pushing Back Black Friday Midnight Sales

Blue Laws Preventing Midnight Black Friday This probably wasn't something retailers planned for when they announced the midnight openings on Black Friday as 17th-Century blue laws in Massachusetts prevent retail employees from working on Thanksgiving. Hard to prepare for one of the biggest sales of the year when employees can't show up until the sale starts.

To comply with the blue laws, Massachusetts retailers have already changed their Black Friday starting hours as Macy's will now open at 12:30am Friday morning, Target at 1am and Walmart at 4am.

Store hours, especially opening times, vary from store to store, so we always recommend to double check with your local store to confirm their Black Friday sale hours.
