3DTV Black Friday Buying Guide

3DTV Below 50”

There are slim pickings here but that doesn’t mean you can’t find a great deal this Black Friday from some major retailers. If you’ve read our 3DTV Buying Tips and you’ve decided that you want active shutter 3D under 50”, the only deal you’ll find is the most expensive one out there, Best Buy’s Sony Bravia home theater bundle for $1398.99. If you decide to pursue this deal, be sure to get some 3D glasses to go along with it since it doesn’t include any in the box.

Our Pick: Vizio 42" LED 3DTV
Walmart wins this one easily with their $598 Vizio 42” LED 3DTV. This is one of the few Black Friday 3DTV bargains that doesn’t bundle in other hardware, so if you’ve already got a 3D blu-ray player and just need the TV to go with it, this is a great deal. Four sets of passive 3D glasses come in the box, so you’re off to a great start to outfitting your whole family with 3D. Rounding out this TV’s impressive list of features is four HDMI inputs and WiFi with Vizio’s internet apps, delivering Netflix, Amazon Video On Demand, Hulu Plus, and a wide variety of other streaming content right to the TV.

Runner Up: 47" LG LED 3DTV
Walmart narrowly edges out Kmart for our runner up here. For $799.98 you can take home a 47” LG LED 3DTV that includes four pairs of passive 3D glasses and an LG 3D blu-ray player. Kmart has a similar bundle with a 42” LG LED 3DTV for $749.99, but we think that for $50 more, you’d benefit from the larger screen size. Since the 3D blu-ray player here is a no-frills unit, if you don’t need the increased size but want a 3D blu-ray player, we recommend skipping Kmart’s LG in favor of the Vizio that took our top pick. The $150 savings there will easily afford you a 3D blu-ray player of your choice when bought separately.
