Wondering when you'll see the first Black Friday ad leak of 2017? We've created handy infographics for the past several years to help you know when to be on the lookout for your favorite store. Click on the images in this post to see each year in detail!
Our first ads are usually from Harbor Freight, Sears Canada, and Half Price Books. Last year Harbor Freight kicked off our season, leaking on October 11th. We usually see our first Black Friday ads in the first or second week of October.
Another big spike to watch out for is at the beginning of November. In 2016 Best Buy, Walmart, and Target all leaked on November 9th. In 2015, they leaked between November 9th and November 11th. As competition gets fiercer between merchants, we see the "big three" leak one after the other each year. We predict that we'll see those ads on or around November 10th, 2017.
There are 30 days between Black Friday and Christmas this year, which means that your window to shop is a bit bigger than recent holiday seasons. That's a win for you, because stores will run deals for a longer amount of time. On the flip side, it can also mean that doorbusters aren't jaw-dropping, since retailers have more time to entice shoppers.
Finally, we predict that "Gray Thursday" will be back and stronger than ever before. The trend of opening on Thanksgiving has shown no signs of slowing down. Last year, Kohl's made some of their Black Friday deals available a full four days early. GameStop will be open on Thanksgiving this year for the first time since 2013. We fully anticipate more stores opening their doors for "Gray Thursday" and "White Wednesday", and we'll be sure to cover that news as it breaks.
