2016 Record Store Day

Record Store Day

Attention music lovers! It's that time of year again -- Record Store Day is this Saturday! We have a soft spot for Record Store Day, since they are one of the few music-niche merchants that holds a stellar Black Friday sale every year. The real fun, however, is during their annual celebration of all things vinyl every April.

For those of you who may be unaware, Record Store Day is an annual event held on the 3rd Saturday of April. It brings fans, collectors, musicians, and merchants together to celebrate the beloved culture of the independent record store. Everyone has a memory of the first time they heard their favorite artist or song; there are few things as visceral as music. Whether you got your start on vinyl or came to love it later in life, there is something to be said about the experience of listening to a great record.

As with their Black Friday Sales, the Record Store Day release list is broken into three sections. EXCLUSIVES are only available at participating record stores on Record Store Day. SMALL RUN records have less than 1,000 copies available -- be prepared to stand in line if you're after one of these! Finally, RSD FIRST titles are making their debut on April 16th.

This year the selection includes a wide variety of records, spanning several genres and eras. We saw some rad throwbacks and reprints, as well as some interesting artist splits. Remember that variety can vary by location, so double-check with your favorite record shop to see if they're participating!

If you're in need of a turntable to play your records, we've got a deal for you! Through April 20th or while stock permits, you can get this highly-rated turntable on Amazon for just $79.99!
