2011 Mobile Phone Buying Guide

Contract Smart Phones

If it’s time to renew your contract and you’d like to get a new Android smart phone, there are great deals to be found with many carriers. All of these phones require a new line of service or a 2 year contract extension. If you are extending your contract, be sure to call your wireless provider ahead of time to verify your eligibility. If it’s a Blackberry you’re after, your only option here is the Torch 9810 4G for at&t, available at Best Buy for free with contract.

Verizon
Our Verizon pick goes to Best Buy’s HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE which can be picked up for free with a two-year contract. The runner up here is the Samsung Stratosphere 4G LTE, also free with contract at both Best Buy and Radio Shack. We picked the Thunderbolt because it has a larger screen, higher storage capacity, and larger amount of RAM. The Stratosphere is no slouch, though, with its beautiful Super AMOLED screen. If you want a QWERTY keyboard, it’s an excellent choice.
