Congrats to Lesly W., winner of the Galaxy Tab 4! Winner was emailed, so if you are a Lesly W., check your email!
That is one small step for a deal, one... giant leap for deal kind! This past week, NASA's New Horizons Mission, after 9 years, flew close enough to Pluto to take high resolution photos of the planet's surface. On July 20th, it will be the anniversary of the 1969 Moon Landing. All of this got us thinking about just how cool outer space is. When you combine that with the fact that our Deal Hunters are willing to go anywhere, in Pluto, in search of Black Friday ads, news, and Cyber Monday Deals, and we had the perfect opportunity for an out of this world giveaway!
We are calling it our Man On The Moon Giveaway, and we are giving away a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, because we like the play on words, and everyone likes tablets. Amazon's Prime Day event is still in full swing, and some of the hottest items in their preview from earlier this week have yet to go on sale! While there were certainly hundreds of items, we're dubious about Amazon's claim that this sale would be as hot as Black Friday. We are keeping our eyes and ears peeled for any exciting deals, but so far, aside from a small number of great prices, things have been pretty lackluster. Walmart's Dare to Compare sale hasn't proven itself to us quite yet either, but that's not to say they don't have a few good deals peppered in between everyday discounts. You can see a current list of our favorite notables from those sales here.
Other retailers have joined the game with their own plethora of sales. Several stores are offering free shipping with no minimum purchase stacked with discounts across their sites. The majority of these sales are for today only, so if one catches your eye, make sure you get in on it before it expires!
Update (3:00PM CST):
Amazon's Prime Day sale is in full swing, and as expected, some of the hottest items are selling out within seconds. Make sure to keep checking our Hot Deals page and Amazon's upcoming sales tab to know when your coveted item is up for grabs. If you are new to the sale, welcome! Sign up for your free 30-day trial of Amazon Prime to see what all the fuss is about.
We have also added new sales to the bottom of this post!
Amazon's Prime Day Sale is officially live! A few deals have started already - you can find our picks highlighted below - and there will be hundreds more starting throughout the day.
Don't forget that this sale is exclusive to Amazon Prime members. Sign up for a free 30-day trial here, and remember to cancel your subscription before it renews to avoid the $99 annual membership charge. The deals featured in the Amazon Prime Day sale are Lightning Deals, so much like Black Friday, your time to purchase items is limited. Keep an eye on the time remaining, as well as how much inventory is gone, to ensure that you don't miss out on the item that you want.
Today only, Macy's is offering free shipping, no minimum for their Surprise Specials Sale - a first for them - as well as a wide array of department sales, such as 50% off select beauty and 65% off luggage closeouts. There is also a stackable 20% off coupon for select departments!
Michael's is offering 25% offsitewide including sale items plus free 2-day shipping after coupon code "CELEBRATE25"!
Amazon issued a press release this morning with more information of what to expect on Prime Day and confirmed the sale will begin just after midnight PT tonight.
Similar to their Black Friday Sale last year, there will be thousands of Lightning Deals with new deals added as often as every ten minutes throughout the day. Remember, you must have a Prime Membership to shop the sale tomorrow, so we strongly encourage you to sign up for the 30 day free trial right now. Don't forget to cancel the service at any time before the trial period ends to avoid being billed $99.

Not to be out done, Walmart announced a rival sale called "Dare to Compare," with "atomic deals" and 90 days of roll backs. We have been monitoring Amazon and Walmart's ongoing price war since last Black Friday, but this is the first time we have seen some serious snark clearly directed from one company at the other. We hope this results in lower prices for everyone.
Adding to all the Prime Day excitement, we are launching a giveaway for a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 tomorrow as well. With so much to keep track of, there has never been a better time to subscribe to our mailing list. This will keep you in the loop with Black Friday news, Cyber Monday deals, Giveaways, and Black Friday Prices all year long.
Our Deal Hunters, armed with over a decade of Black Friday experience, continue to search the internet for prices as good, or better, than last Black Friday. When they find a deal they think is good, it goes to the top of our Hot Deals Page. We update that page in real time, as soon as we find a new deal.
Below, you will find two deals we like to think of as "better than Black Friday," because they rival even the best Cyber Monday deals, and you can buy them right now. We have included links to previous Black Friday prices, so you can evaluate the price for yourself. We have also included reviews to customer reviews, so you can be assured it is a quality product.
Last Black Friday, AAFES had the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 - 12" w/ Intel Core i5, 128GB SSD (Silver) on sale for $899.00 and Tiger Direct had the Surface 3 Pro series of tablets starting at $799.99 for the i3 version. Today Best Buy has beat those prices by offering the Surface Pro 3 w/ i5 processor and 128 storage for $799.99. This price also matches the lowest price we've seen since last Black Friday. The next lowest price we could find today was $865.18 from Amazon.
Today, Adorama (via eBay) has the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (MZ-75E250B/AM) on sale for $89.99, matching the lowest price we've seen, and beating last Black Friday's price by $10.00. The 850 Evo was not out yet during last Black Friday, but today's price is even lower than its predecessor, the EVO 840, was at that time. Rakuten had the Samsung EVO 840 250GB SSD on sale then for $99.99. The next lowest price we could find today was $96.90 from AAAwave.com.
This SSD is one of the most highly recommended SSDs on the market today. Tom's Hardware, a great reference for computer parts gave it their top pick for a budget 250GB/256GB SSS last month and that was at the $109.99 price point. It has also received a 4.7 out of 5 stars with 3,279 customer reviews on Amazon. Samsung is also confident enough in its quality to offer a 5 year warranty, one of the longest for any budget SSD on the market.
Amazon announced that they would be having a Prime Day with "more deals than Black Friday". The deals will be only for Prime members and we're hoping to see some great discounts. If you aren't already a Prime member, make sure you sign up for a free 30-day trial here!
Not to be outdone, Walmart announced today that they will be offering rollbacks on items as well as some special "Atomic Deals", which will be announced later in the week. Walmart also launched their Shipping Pass, where you can get unlimited free three-day shipping for a $50 yearly membership. They make a jab at Amazon in reference to their $99 Prime price saying, "the idea of asking customers to pay extra in order to save money just doesn't add up for us". The sale page says that new items will be added every hour and they have lowered their shipping threshold from $50 to $35! Check out our Hot Deals page to make sure you really are getting the best price, as we've found some great Walmart deals, and some not so great ones!
This isn't the first time that we've seen Walmart try to compete with Amazon. Last Black Friday season they announced that they would begin price matching Amazon everyday, including Black Friday!
Stay glued to our page this week as we continue to cover the sales that both stores will be offering!
This is good news for fans of walmart online shopping, as a bidding war between two giant retailers can only result in lower prices over all. We don't think these two are even close to done yet either. Expect there to be a ripple effect from July 15th through Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2015.
